How to Launch a Glamping Setup with Yurt Cabins: First Conversation to First Guest in 90 Days

Luxury glamping has gone mainstream, and India has only just started. Worldwide, glamping is a US$4 billion business, forecast to reach US$9.8 billion by 2034. In India it is about US$131 million today, forecast to reach US$338 million (IMARC).
The big operators are moving in. In December 2024, Marriott acquired Postcard Cabins, a design-led cabin brand with 1,200+ cabins. KSL Capital took a controlling stake of over $100 million in Under Canvas in 2018 and has invested about $175 million since.
What that money is backing is design-forward structures, hotel like comfort & hospitality in nature, and non-permanent builds that give unique experience to the guests. A luxury yurt cabin is built exactly to that standard.
A TOF yurt cabin takes about 90 days from your first conversation with us to your first guest. It comes down to four steps: do your homework, take a walkthrough, design your yurt, and let us build, ship and install it. Installation takes four days once the yurt is on your site.
Discovery, Decide, Design and Deliver: the four steps from first conversation to first guest
Step 1: Do your homework
Start with our website, not a call. The sizes, prices, 3D yurt customiser and pictures are all there.
There are three sizes: the TOF20 (314 sq ft), the TOF24 (452 sq ft) and the TOF32 (804 sq ft). Check our pricing page for the price of each size, along with the full list of inclusions and exclusions.
Step 2: Take a walkthrough
Visit our Bengaluru experience centre or join online. We walk you through a real yurt, and you walk us through your site, ideas and your goals.
Bring the basics: where the land is, your design aesthetic, what guests will do there, and how many rooms you want.
Step 3: Design
Our architects turn your idea into a real floor plan, with your colours and layout locked in before we build. The drawings include the floor plan, elevations and electrical & plumbing layout.
You choose the layout, windows, fabric colours (there are 3,000+ colour combinations) and add-ons.
Step 4: Build, ship and install
We manufacture and customise your yurt, then ship it wherever you are. Manufacturing takes roughly 12 weeks, depending on your brief and how busy our order book is.
Once the yurt is on your site, installation takes four days. Bad weather can add time. In India, our own installation teams do the work.
What happens on your site while the yurt is being made
Your local contractor prepares the site, working from the plan we give them: the platform, flooring and utilities. Plumbing, electrical work and interiors are also prepared locally. Because sites and finishes vary, we show our price and an indicative on-site budget separately.
Concrete isn't our default for platforms. We can use timber platforms or ground screws that sit lightly on the land.
Permits: check them first
Permits depend on two things: where you are and what you want to use the yurts for. We have set up across five countries, so we have worked with five different rule books.
A yurt isn't conventional permanent construction, so it can go where normal building can't, including eco-sensitive zones and coastal regulation zones. Local rules still apply, so check yours early.
